First actual blog post to talk about The house in Fata Morgana! I finished playing it last month and what a ride! It was a genuinely very good read, I recommend it! Now to be a bit more specific.
Warning: Spoiler ahead beware!
I really loved the atmosphere and the setting of the manor, it helped to really get hooked in the first 4 chapters
of the game (which serve as a big introduction). I really connected with Morgana and Michel, the first putting others before
herself by living as a saint and making miracles, the other doing everything to be recognized as who he truly is, a normal man, despite the
expectations of his mother and society at large. I didn't take a lot of screenshots during my reading (I was too invested most of the time) but I
have two dialogs that really stuck with me.
Michel's monologue before facing Morgana to find his love Giselle. (translation in alt text)
This monologue happens before we witness the backstory of Michel, but this speech still stuck with me with all the demonization he had
already faced by this point. As stated in my about section, I am a trans woman, a lesbian at that, so most of my life I faced (and still face) some kind of villification.
Having him explicitly discard the witch accusations and claim his humanity made me really connect with him and moved me. His relationship to his brothers
made me cry a lot, seeing them abandon him in order to follow their mother, the church or not thinking about him at all saddened me, and I related a lot
to his reactions to his family siding against him for simply wanting to be himself.
Michel talking to Morgana. (translation in alt text)
This second dialog still fills me with hope, like I too might find a place in this world where I can love. This dialog and all of Michel's actions in the last door helped Morgana to move on to a new life (not forgiving Jacopo and Yukimasa they don't deserve it) in which she was able to find happiness again, and I'm so happy that at least in the sequel, she can live a happy life.
This game will stuck with me for a while, the story and characters moved me and I really vibed with the atmosphere so very exited for what comes next from Novectacle and Keika Hanada ! On that note: farewell, until our souls cross paths once more in the boundless sphere of fate
